Welcome to the world of Software as a Service where in-house developers, solution providers and ISVs
can now participate in the evolving transformation of the software industry towards the SaaS model and enjoy
the financial benefits for both software vendors and customers alike. As stated by industry analyst firm IDC,
"The software industry has embraced SaaS; traditional software goliaths are transforming into SaaS players
and emerging SaaS-focused companies are entering the marketplace." (IDC, "Top 10 Predictions for
2006: Software as a Service," Amy Konary and Erin Traudt, February 2006)
With documents being such an integral part of all business activity, the more streamlined we can make business
processes through a combined effort of integrated solutions, the greater the impact and efficiency people will
have in their work and in society, thus dramatically improving business results, enhancing their own quality of
life, and perhaps doing some good to the environment as we print less and save more trees.
We invite you to JOIN NDConnect - the NetDocuments document Services Community.
Joining NDConnect is free of charge. Developers will get technical support, sample code, a testing account and
the API documentation to accelerate the development work with ease and success.
Consider the many possibilities as we work together to foster innovation and customize, extend and build
applications within and on top of the NetDocuments document services platform and with your solution.

Software developers with their own web-hosted, multi-tenant service software can offer extended document
services to its customers by integrating with the NetDocuments document services platform.

NDConnect revolves around important and emerging industry standards such as Simple Object Access
Protocol (SOAP), Web Services Description Language (WSDL) and XML. SOAP extends NetDocuments to
other systems, third-party vertical applications and legacy applications, or build add-on capabilities.
NDConnect gives you the ability to use any programming language or platform that supports the SOAP
standard in order to generate NetDocuments business objects in that language, such as Java or
Microsoft.NET. Most of the NetDocuments features and objects are exposed for simpler integration.
API Documentation
The NDConnect API documentation provides detailed explanations of the methods that comprise the
SOAPAPI including authentication, the directory service for the creation and modification of user accounts
and groups, and the storage services relating to storage objects such as cabinets, folders and categories.
Developers can quickly leverage web servic es and software that is delivered as a service to speed and
simplify application integration and creation.
The NetDocuments Client API is implemented as a COM component. It can be accessed from any
programming language that supports COM method calls. A dual interface is provided, so the API can be
called using either early (compile time) binding or late (run time) binding. This API is accessed from
a client workstation. This API should not be confused with the NetDocuments Server-based SOAP API, which
is accessed on the NetDocuments servers via HTTP calls. The NetDocuments Client API is installed
automatically along with the neRemoteDoc ActiveX control. This ActiveX control is installed on a
workstation the first time a user accesses a document or NetBinder in NetDocuments.
