Local Document Server
The Local Document Service includes software you install on a local server physically located at your premises and an ongoing connection to the NetDocuments Data Centers to maintain a complete up-to-date copy of all your organization’s documents and document Profiles (document metadata). There are three components in the Local Document Service:

Synchronization Agent This is a Windows service that periodically connects to the NetDocuments service and downloads all the documents that have been created or modified since the last time the service ran. Each document will be stored in your local file system, along with a file that contains the attributes of that particular document is downloaded. Information about each document that has been downloaded to your local server is stored in a SQL Server database. This information is used to determine whether to download the file on subsequent synchronization actions.
